Country Apple Fritter Bread

Ingredients

Brown Sugar-Cinnamon Mixture

⅓ cup light brown sugar1 teaspoon ground cinnamonApple Bread Loaf

½ cup butter softened

⅔ cup granulated sugar2 eggs room temperature

1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 ¾ teaspoons baking powder

½ cup milk or almond milk room temperature

Chopped Apple Mixture

2 large apples e.g., Granny Smith, peeled and chopped into small pieces

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Old-Fashioned Crème Glaze½ cup powdered sugar

1 –3 tablespoons milk or cream adjust for desired glaze consistency

Instructions

Preheat & PrepPreheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray, or line it with foil/parchment paper for easy removal.

Brown Sugar-Cinnamon MixtureIn a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.

Apple Bread Loaf BatterIn a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Set aside.In a medium bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until fully incorporated. Mix in the vanilla extract.Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.

Stir in the milk until the batter is smooth.

Chopped Apple MixtureToss the chopped apples with granulated sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Set aside for layering.

Layering & BakingPour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.Top with half of the chopped apple mixture.

Sprinkle half of the brown sugar-cinnamon mixture over the apples.

Repeat the layers with the remaining batter, apple mixture, and brown sugar-cinnamon mixture.

Use a knife to gently swirl the layers together for a marbled effect.Bake for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Old-Fashioned Crème GlazeIn a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk (start with 1 tablespoon and add more for a thinner glaze).

For a pourable consistency, microwave the glaze for 10 seconds if needed.

Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Drizzle the glaze over the cooled loaf. For extra glaze, double the recipe.
