diabetic German Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 8 grams dry yeast
- 350 ml room temperature water
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 25 ml sunflower oil
- 500 grams flour (plus extra for dusting)
Instructions:
- Activate the Yeast: Combine water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Stir gently, cover, and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Mix Dough: Add sunflower oil and gradually sift in the flour, mixing until you get a sticky dough.
- First Rise: Cover the bowl with a cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour until it doubles in size.
- Second Mixing: Stir the risen dough for 30 seconds, then cover and let it rest for 30 more minutes.
- Shape the Dough: Lightly flour a work surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle, fold it over itself, and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Final Shaping: Roll out the dough to your desired thickness and shape it for baking.
- Bake: Place the dough on a baking tray, optionally making decorative slashes on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 230°C (446°F) for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Let the bread cool slightly before slicing to enhance flavor and texture.

What could you use for a subsiture for sunflower oil
Can I use Splenda or any other kind of sugar substitute instead of brown sugar?
