Beef and Sweet Onion Stir-Fry
Ingredients:
- Beef: 1 lb flank/sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain.
- Aromatics: 1 large onion (wedged), 3 cloves garlic (minced), 1-inch ginger (grated), and red chilies (optional).
- Marinade: 1 tbsp each soy sauce and cornstarch, 1 tsp sesame oil, and ¼ tsp baking soda for tenderness.
- Sauce: 2 tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp hoisin, 1 tsp sugar, and ¼ cup broth/water.
Instructions:
- Marinate: Combine beef with marinade ingredients for 15–20 minutes.
- Sear: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a wok/skillet over high heat. Sear beef for 1 minute, stir-fry 30 seconds, then set aside.
- Onions & Aromatics: Stir-fry onions for 1–2 minutes until blistered, then add garlic, ginger, and chilis for 30 seconds.
- Finish: Return beef, add sauce, and stir-fry 1–2 minutes until glossy. Serve with jasmine rice.
