Slow Cooker Cabbage with Bacon

Ingredients:
- 1 large green cabbage, cut into 6-8 wedges
- 8 slices bacon, cut into pieces
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional)
Instructions:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until lightly crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving a little bacon fat in the pan.
- Place the sliced onion in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Arrange the cabbage wedges on top of the onions.
- Pour the chicken broth around the cabbage. Add butter, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and brown sugar if using.
- Sprinkle the cooked bacon over the cabbage wedges.
- Cover and cook:
- Low: 6-7 hours
- High: 3-4 hours
- The cabbage should be very tender and flavorful. Spoon some of the cooking liquid over the cabbage before serving.
